Presenting ‘Use Good Butter’ by Eden Lane (Colorado)
Synopsis: ‘Use Good Butter’ is set in the Metcalf Senior Center in Anaconda, Montana, where Jordan, a young lifelong resident volunteering at the center, is tasked with collecting recipes for a community cookbook fundraiser. When she sits down with Marlene, a longtime senior-center regular known for her haluski, Jordan quickly discovers that the recipe resists standardization. As forms, measurements, and timelines collide with lived knowledge, the two women navigate what it actually means to pass something on. ‘Use Good Butter’ is a play about intergenerational learning, staying in place, and the daily work of continuity.
