This year’s dinner features entertaining reenactor John Barrows, who will bring the past to life with stories, humor, and unforgettable character.
John Barrows is an experienced and very entertaining Montana reenactor, celebrating characters from Montana’s past. He has presented around the State to thousands of visitors and can be found most summers at the original Territorial Capital of Bannock or Virginia City.
Mr. Barrows will perform a first-person presentation on the notable Montana pioneer Robert S. Kelley, a captain in the Confederate army from Virginia. Kelley traveled to Alder Gulch to pan for gold, finally settling in Deer Lodge in 1867. He continued in mining and business interests here, and in 1885 was appointed U.S. Marshall for Montana Territory. Mr. Kelley hired Frank Conley to work at the Territorial Prison.
Held at the Pen Convention Center in Deer Lodge, this long-standing annual event is a favorite tradition and a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow community members, support a great cause, and enjoy a memorable night out.
